Multiple sites managed as one… Think of it as a WAN that thinks it’s a LAN…

Managing the world’s insurance risk is what you do. So you need a WAN which won’t let you down. We use industrial-strength Ethernet to build powerful corporate networks cost-effectively and across dispersed sites internationally. Our robust, resilient 10Gigabit Ethernet network progresses past Lloyd’s of London, penetrates throughout London and proceeds to key insurance city hubs globally.

Service-oriented WANs from Assured Convergence eliminate the costly duplication of multiple communications delivery with one, easily managed and scalable connection - from where you can plug your business critical applications and scale bandwidth per service, as and when requirements change.

The technology

A Wide-Area Network from Assured Convergence is a layer 2 Ethernet solution that is faster, more scalable and simpler to use than any other type of corporate WAN, and is known as VPLS (Virtual Private WAN Service).
The detail on VPLS can be found here (link to white labelled pdf), but in a nutshell:

  • VPLS provides a transparent transport platform for carrying any type of traffic
  • All services connected via VPLS appear to be on the same LAN, regardless of location
  • Services that are stranded at a single site can be moved to the centre of the network
  • True convergence is possible via logically separate networks on the same physical connection
  • Customers can choose what mix of layer 2 and layer 3 CPE they require
  • Customers are free to control their own IP addressing schema and routing.

Services are fully supported with end to end QoS; intelligent dynamic distribution of bandwidth and five classes of service.
